Pancha Tanmantra Kung Fu
Pancha Tanmantra, is a traditional Kung Fu form based on the five element theory of Chinese medicine and Buddhist psychology, has been a significant part of my life for many years. I trained passionately and committed to achieving my black belt at the instructor level in this unique martial art.Pancha Tanmantra was originally taught to monks in the Shaolin temples as an aid to health and healing. In 1853, a Buddhist abbot introduced the practice to Java, Indonesia, establishing the Buddhist temple Pemuda Vihara Vimala Dharma in Bandung, where it is still practiced by Buddhist monks today. This martial art has ancestral roots in Bali and incorporates Hindu meditation practices.
The system works with meridian pathways, akin to those used in acupuncture, to release energetic and emotional blockages, helping individuals achieve balance and healing. Utilizing the five elements of water, fire, wood, metal, and earth, Pancha Tanmantra serves as a diagnostic tool for addressing a variety of emotional and physical concerns.
Though combat has been removed from this practice, advanced training includes dynamic components such as pole, sword, and Tiger & Crane forms.
My teacher, Christopher Wright, profoundly influenced my understanding of myself, my world and my connection to spirituality as my teacher until his passing in 2011.
